Hope Cove consists of two small villages, Inner and Outer Hope (Hope being the old English word for a small enclosed valley). Originally a small fishing and crabbing village, Inner Hope remains much as it was centuries ago with its central square of thatched cottages close to the lifeboat station. In Outer Hope you will find the post office, general store and the "Hope & Anchor" pub, offering a good menu of local dishes.
The two beaches offer excellent safe bathing and facilities for boating. The unusually clear waters also attract diving parties to the coves.
Surrounded by National Trust land, the South West Coastal Path runs through Hope Cove, providing fabulous walks to both east and west.
The area is renowned for it’s variety of wildlife and stunning sunsets.
Hope Cove is approximately 1 hour’s drive from Exeter, with the towns of Kingsbridge and Salcombe close by, offering a wide variety of shops and restaurants.
There is a small but comprehensive supermarket in the nearby village of Marlborough.
